Less than 20 of the South African abattoirs slaughter 98% of South African pigs The average slaughter mass for pigs is 70kg. Al abattoirs have to comply with strict regulations and laws to ensure high hygiene standards and health safety. At most abattoirs (95%) carcases are classified.
